Our Story

A few chapters of us so far.

Chapter One

How We Met

Gaby and PJ met at Alers Martial Arts during a kickboxing class. PJ walked in late and immediately noticed Gaby shadowboxing during warm-ups. Without hesitation, he stepped onto the mat, walked straight past everyone else, and asked her to be his partner.

When it came time to rotate partners, Gaby glanced around awkwardly—she was new to the gym—then looked back at PJ and said, “I guess you’re stuck with me.” PJ smiled and replied, “Is that such a bad thing?” One class quickly turned into many late nights spent talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. A few months later, Gaby finally worked up the courage to flirt—and invited PJ to attend a comic convention with her.

Her plan was simple: Starfire and Robin.

His response? “Can I be Larry?” 😅

At that moment, Gaby was convinced she never stood a chance.

Chapter Two

Our Shared Interests

Martial arts has always been their constant. Gaby and PJ continue to train jiu-jitsu and kickboxing together, sharing a deep respect for the discipline that brought them together. Gaby is endlessly grateful for PJ’s role in her journey—his patience, encouragement, and ability to push her forward while celebrating every win, no matter how small.

Outside the gym, they share a love for anime, cartoons, video games, movies, and comic conventions. Whether they’re training, cosplaying, or simply enjoying a quiet night in, they find joy in experiencing life side by side.

Chapter Three

Our Little Family

At home, Gaby and PJ are proudly ruled by their pup, Luna—the tiniest boss in the house. Her nicknames include (but are certainly not limited to): Boonzie, Toonsie, Loonie Tunes, Baboonzie, Dog-ter, Toonie, and Badaboonzie. She is absolutely thrilled that her humans are getting married. ❤️

Chapter Four

The Proposal

On Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by both of their immediate families, PJ planned the perfect surprise. He arrived dressed in a suit, gave a heartfelt toast expressing gratitude for the two families coming together, and then—right in front of everyone—began undressing.

At first, all Gaby noticed were green tights and green gloves, prompting the thought, “Is there a green screen coming out…?” Then PJ removed his shirt, revealing red accents and the unmistakable Robin symbol. Looking at her, he said, “You once asked if I would be the Robin to your Starfire. Now I want to ask you—will you be the Starfire to my Robin?”
